to Frequently Asked Questions
How
can I learn more about a Gestational Art Session?
Click
on this link to view our informational flyer about Gestational Art.
What
type of paint do you use?
Faces
Are Fun uses professsional quality FDA compliant cosmetic paint. Our
paints are approved for use in Europe and the USA, and they are the
only face paints that carry a child toy safety rating. Our face and
body paint products are hypo-allergenic and safe for use on the skin
and hair. (Acrylic paints and non-toxic craft paints are NOT suitable
for use on the skin.)
How
do I remove the artwork?
The
cosmetic paint can be removed with gentle soap or baby shampoo and water.
Olive oil can also be applied for a deeper cleansing if desired. Do
not use baby wipes containing glycerin to remove the artwork. Glycerin
will cause the paint to leave a slight stain on the skin. To remove
the glitter tattoos (which can last for up to one week) moisturize with
a body or hand lotion. After soaking for a few minutes in the lotion
they can be removed with a wet cloth.
What
if a person is sick?
Faces
Are Fun will not paint the face of anyone who appears to be sick. This
can include someone who has an open wound or rash on the face or body
area where they want to be painted, a runny nose, runny eyes, or any
other obvious contagious symptoms. Our paints do contain a natural germicidal
product which deters bacterial growth and the spreading of bacteria.
One use disposable cotton tipped swabs are used for painting the lip
area. Flushables and/or hand sanitizer is used by our artists between
clients.
Can
you tell me about your glitter?
Faces
are Fun uses non-metallic, cosmetic grade polyester glitter in a size
and cut that is compliant with the FDA in both our face painting and
glitter tattoo designs. This is a higher grade professional cosmetic
glitter and NOT craft glitter. (Craft store glitter should never be
used on or near the face as it could cause serious injury.) The adhesive
we use is a professional cosmetic adhesive.
How
much do you charge?
Faces
Are Fun prices are dependent on a number of factors: date, time of day,
number of clients to be painted, services requested (face painting,
body painting, glitter tattoos, fitness hoops.) We are prepared to walk
in with our paints and work in your set-up or bring our own tables,
chairs, tents and more for corporate and festival events. Discounts
are offered to non-profit groups, church and school events, and fundraisers.
A 50% deposit is required to book your event. Cash,
or Paypal payments are accepted by Faces Are Fun. Paypal statements
are safe and secure. We do not have access to your credit numbers or
any information. The statment will be under the name of our sister business
Low Country Studios in Charleston SC.
On the date of the event, the balance is due as soon as we arrive
at your event site. This can be paid by cash. You may also
request to have full billing completed 24 hours prior to your event
through Paypal. In the event that Paypal does not notify us of your
full payment 24 hours prior to your event, then cash will be accepted
at the start of your event for the balance due.
We
want to use your service but we are having a pool/beach party. Will the
paint wash off in the water?
Faces
Are Fun suggests glitter tattoos and/or hoops (must be over age 14 for
hoops) for parties that are being held at pools, splash parks, lakes
and beaches.
How
long does it take to do a full-body painting?
A
full body painting can take anywhere from 3 to 6 (six) hours depending
on the design. If your company, business, radio station, et ceteras
is having a promotional party we will gladly do a logo body painting
for the event. We request a high quality JPEG of your logo sent to Faces
Are Fun by email (FacesAreFun1001@yahoo.com) or a quality large print
by post (Faces Are Fun, P.O. Box 12153, Charleston SC 29422.) We also
paint at private parties. The party host is responsible for all photography
and model services for the event.
Do
you charge for set-up or travel time?
There
is no additional fee for set-up or travel time within a 20 mile radius
of Faces Are Fun (see above address.) There is a fuel fee of $1.00 for
every additional mile outside of our 20 mile service area.
Do
you offer balloon designs or come in costume?
No.
We started this business over 20 years ago as Boogie Madison the Clown.
We changed our style when we realized how many children and adults were
traumatized by clowns and balloons. We come dressed in street clothes
for all of our events. We let our designs and hoops take center stage
for your guests' peace and enjoyment.
